Making Math Matter: Pinal County's May Teacher Spotlight

Excellence in Action at Four Peaks Elementary

We are thrilled to announce Kerri Mortenson as our May Teacher Spotlight winner! Nominated by Yesenia Braaksma, Kerri is recognized for her incredible dedication to the students, staff, and families of Four Peaks Elementary.

Kerri’s impact spans far beyond her own classroom. As a math teacher and instructional coach, she is a champion for student engagement, constantly sourcing creative tools and manipulatives to elevate the math learning experience. Her leadership as a mentor and a member of the MTSS and school leadership teams ensures that both students and teachers have the support they need to thrive.

A Pillar of the School Community

Kerri’s commitment to excellence doesn't stop at the whiteboard. She is a mainstay at PTO meetings and school events, always willing to step in—whether she’s leading professional development or helping analyze student data to improve learning outcomes.

“Kerri’s dedication, collaboration, and leadership make a meaningful impact on our school,” says Braaksma. We couldn't agree more.

Congratulations, Kerri, and thank you for your unwavering commitment to Pinal County students!
